“There's nothing wrong with having a tree as a friend.” ― Bob Ross
Bob Ross is undoubtedly one of the most inspiring artists and human beings that have ever lived. His wisdom on not only painting, but life floods most of his videos. Without having seen this quote, anyone can easily relate to the feelings that nature can offer when you're around it. The rewarding experience of being in a forest or a park is an overwhelming one if you keep an open mind. Green always offers us a gateway of escape into a more soothing and calm world. This recurring experience has inspired artists, writers, and any creatives to attempt to capture nature and its essence. One artist that I particularly love is the 19th century artist Caspar David Friedrich, a German romantic Landscape Painter. His painting express what words can describe much more eloquently. One of my favourite paintings of his is the "Der Wanderer über dem Nebelmeer" or the wanderer above the sea of fog. It is an 1818 oil painting currently preserved in Hamburg, Germany. The painting portrays a man standing in the face of a sea of fog, seems quite self-explanatory. As all great artists have, YAK will have a regular habit attempting to portray nature in its various forms. We hope everyone enjoys our new illustration!
